in what ways did the post war Hollywood blacklist affect film Noir, and how it was seen by the American public? - any answers to this topic would be greatly appreciated, as i am after primary sources and opinions for research. thankyou

hmmm... sounds like someone wants us to do their homework...
Kid, I would look into Jules Dassin as well as screenwriter Daniel Mainwaring. Also, actor John Garfield.
There's tons of stuff online about the three. That should get you heading in the right direction.

Instead of killers and crooks being the bad guys, Commies took the spotlight. Movies with Commies as the bad guys, Pick Up on South Street, The Woman on Pier 13 and Atomic City.
If you want movies that were made during the war that were used as evidence by HUAC hearings: The North Star, Song of Russia, Mission to Moscow, Action in the North Atlantic, Tender Comrade.
These are just the ones that I can name off the top of my head. There are many others.
